About Me

I been working as a counsellor in private practice, since 2008 after completing my Advanced Diploma in Counselling, alongside this as a volunteer counsellor in Taunton providing a low cost counselling service and also for Mind Taunton listening service. I completed my Higher Diploma in Counselling in 2011 and have recently completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Supervision.

I have experience of working with people seeking counselling for a diverse range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress, abuse, self-harming, eating disorders, sexuality, grief, relationship problems, anger, mental health issues, disability and personal growth.

Before becoming a counsellor I worked as a self-employed artist after finishing my degree in Art Education before spending ten years as secondary school teacher of Art & Design and Deputy Head of House where the pastoral work lead me to the beginning of my counselling studies. I then took some time to raise my children, and get involved in local community projects. Over time I have developed my own art practice and regularly exhibit my work as an artist. I continue to work in schools, working with pupils of all ages to making site specific art works and run art workshops for adults and children.

Alongside this I have been training as a counsellor for the last six years and enjoy the interesting, creative and varied nature of my current working life. I am passionate about my own continuing self development which I pursue through personal therapy, my own creative practice, supervision and continuing studies in counselling. These activities keep me energised, fresh and enthusiastic for my work.
